As many of you know I just returned from a trip to the Land Down Under! I finally found out what a Vegemite Sandwich is! It’s not so bad!!!!! One more thing off my bucket list (I guess it’s an 80s thingJ ) I even got to feed a Kangaroo!
This is my host family Barry and Janet from Stanwell Tops just south of Sydney. The Lord really blessed our crew from Brazil through their generosity. Below is Cris (left), Mateus (center) and Esdras (right) with Janet preparing Brigadeiro, a Brazilian Dessert for 200 people! Esdras and Mateus serve on the Brazilian National Executive Board and also lead up Christian Surfers (CS) in Rio.
We, along with four other Brazilians, were attending the Christian Surfer’s (CS) International Leadership Conference, Ground Swell. I was attending as Brazil’s official voting representative as one of the Board Members and was given the opportunity to facilitate a seminar and assume responsibilities for the South American Director who could not be with us.
One of the focuses of the week was “Go Younger”. The challenge for we “silver surfers” is to empower young leadership. Keeping it light for my introduction to this group and representing Aldo from Peru giving the South American Report they dressed me (and my colleagues) like this…. I am far right wearing the Aldo mask. I would have worn it the whole time but I could not see! My arms are crossed because someone sewed the button holes shut. Very Embarrassing! 30 Years ago I would have volunteered for this!
CS exists to share the Good News of Jesus with Surfers giving them an opportunity to know Jesus and to follow Him in Community and empowering others to do the same. Our vision is Global Disciple-Making: Until every surfer in every surfing community has an opportunity to know Jesus and to follow Him. I was very impressed by the high quality of preaching, worship, workshops, and Vision casting. Though I did not participate the surfing was pretty good too! These surfers are passionate about Jesus and surfing and it is contagious!
One of the many high-lights was the paddle out and prayer in the form of a cross after Baptisms. It is an Aussie tradition!

Christians Surfers was founded in 1977 by a local group of Australian Teenagers. Today CS is active in 35 countries and partners with like-minded missions in many more. Left – CS leadership from every continent is represented at Ground Swell 2016.

Pray for Roy Harley in his new role as international director that God would work through him to lead CS to new frontiers of unreached surfing tribes.
Pray for CS Brasil as we are aligning 9 different chapters spread across 2000 miles of coast line with common mission and core values.
We will be empowering each of the chapters to develop their ability to Connect, Disciple, Serve, Equip and Partner all for the outcome of giving every surfer in every surfer community an opportunity to know and follow Jesus.
Pray that we all catch the Aussie’s Passion. Passion for Surf; Passion for Jesus and Passion for Life!
